My Name is Mike Conte,
known to many as Montana Mike. My wife, Lady Bette, and I have had several
other breeds of horses over our years but we really fell hard in love
with these Curly critter's. Just don't care to have anything else anymore.
You've got to have one to know what I'm sayin'.
We became licensed
breeders with the American Bashkir Curly Registry (ABCR) in 1994. Not
just members but "active" members attending many of the Curly Horse
Conventions. I have been known to speak up a time-r-two. We are also members
of the International Curly Horse Organization. (ICHO) We breed full
Curly to full Curly producing a 14.2 -15 hand horse with all the traits
common to the Curly Horse.
You're now sittin' at the upper end of a
very small mountain valley located in the Purcell Mountains in the
extreme northwest corner of Montana. This is very rugged mountainous
terrain. Literally got the Purcells out the front door and Cougar Ridge out
the back. We find the Curly horses are well suited to this type of country
and do very well in these mountains. Heck, Curlies do well no matter where
you put them.
You're more-n-welcome to take a peek around the ranch and
visit with the horses. All yeah have to do is pick one of them buttons on
the left and nudge it with your spur and off you'll go. Shoot! Yeah
might even catch a glimpse of one of us-a-doin some chores. Have a good time
and let us know if you have any questions about anythin'. Remember to shut
the gate behind yeah.
